We will be taking our summer break from Monday, July 18th through Saturday, July 23rd. All regular classes will be cancelled during that time, though we may be organizing some open mat times for people to come roll and work out. If you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact us!
Everyone runs into different challenges in when training in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Paying attention to technique and coming to class consistently is extremely important in helping your game progress, but most of the time there are questions or problems in your game that cannot always be addressed in class right when you need them. Maybe you are having a problem with a certain position, wondering how you can use your body type to your advantage, or are being challenged by a specific person or strategy in rolling. Private lessons are an amazingly effective way to quickly solve some of those issues!
Black belt James Peterson not only has a great list of credentials, but has years of experience successfully helping people with their games and has coached multiple people to IBJJF World and Regional Champions. He is right here at home in Appleton and offering hour-long private lessons for as low as $40 when you split it with a partner. Call or text him directly at 920-740-6005 to schedule yours!
Team FVGC is excited to announce that we are extending our trial offer to 2 WEEKS FREE for all prospective adult students! Team FVGC is the ONLY Brazilian jiu-jitsu academy in NE Wisconsin with a full-time Black Belt instructor as well as a group of the most dedicated and accomplished coaches in the valley.
The free trial is a great way to try out all of our regular adult programs (BJJ, Boxing/kickboxing, Judo/Wrestling, Women’s Martial Arts, Fight Fit fitness). You will have a chance to experience our different martial arts programs, meet and talk with our coaches, and train with the FVGC family! You don’t need to have any experience to start training; most people that come in for the first time don’t have any martial arts background!
To get started all you need to do is come 10-15 minutes before the first class that you want to attend to fill out your waiver. See our schedule at www.foxvalleygrapplingclub.com/schedule.html. If you are under 18, you will need a parent/guardian to sign your paperwork. Wear comfortable athletic clothes and, if you are participating in boxing or kickboxing, you will need a mouth guard. Any other equipment you may need is provided by FVGC for your trial period.
If you have any other questions before coming in, please do not hesitate to call or email us! See you soon!
Remember, our LCCT Seminar is TOMORROW, March 29th from 6-8:30pm.
This means a modified schedule:
Boxing will be from 5-6pm (15 minutes shorter)
Beginner BJJ is CANCELLED
Fight Fit is CANCELLED

Team FVGC is proud to welcome back Rickson Gracie black belts and World Champions Luiz Claudio and Thiago Veiga for our spring LCCT Affiliation seminar. These seminars are an incredible opportunity to learn BJJ concepts and techniques from the heads of our jiu-jitsu affiliation and are open to ALL experience levels!
This seminar is a TUESDAY NIGHT around the same time as regular BJJ class, as weekends have been difficult for a number of our members to attend. Please plan accordingly!
Seminar cost is $85 per person (cash at the door)
Please contact us with any questions!
Martial arts can be a powerful tool for women. Martial arts can not only give women the skills to protect themselves, but can be an effective way to develop self-confidence, determination, focus, and self-respect. The martial arts can also be a great way to relieve stress, a part of a healthy lifestyle, and a way to create a supportive network of friends and mentors!
Team FVGC’s Women’s Class teaches a combination of Brazilian jiu-jitsu, kickboxing, and self-defense skills in a safe, supportive, and empowering environment. It is designed for women with a variety of experience levels; we welcome women with absolutely no experience as well as our more advanced martial artists. This is a class that can be taken by itself or in conjunction with another martial arts program at FVGC.
Our Women’s program is taught by Alexandra Peterson, who has been training in the martial arts for over 20 years and is one of the highest ranking female Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioners in Wisconsin. She has many years of teaching experience both in striking and grappling and is the founder of Rebel Girls BJJ, a non-profit organization that promotes women’s jiu-jitsu and its community in Wisconsin.
As with all the programs at Team FVGC, you get 7 DAYS FREE to try out the class (Learn more about getting started HERE
Because of inclement weather and the Appleton Area School Districts closing for the day, FVGC is cancelling ALL REGULAR CLASSES tomorrow, Tuesday, February 2nd. If you have any questions, please contact Alex at 920.202.4166.
Stay safe everyone!
PS Please stay tuned to either the blog or the Facebook page to make sure Wednesday morning classes are on as normal. If AASD is delayed, 9am class will be cancelled.
Due to the weather and travel conditions tonight and the prediction that the snow will not stop until 10am, we will be canceling 9am BJJ tomorrow. Please stay safe! We will see you tomorrow night or on Wednesday!
It’s been a great year at Team FVGC! We’ve been pleased to welcome new members to the family, celebrate some big wins in both BJJ and MMA, participate in some amazing seminars, and get some great training in.
The team started the year out strong at the New Breed in Chicago in February and also did very well at the IBJJF Chicago Summer Open in August. We also celebrated our first WORLD CHAMPION after Stephanie Ozment won her blue belt division at the Masters Worlds in September.
Coach Matt Brown had a huge win at RFA in Minnesota in March. Kegan Genrich also came home with a big first Pro MMA win in Madison!
FVGC was excited for some very big and well-deserved BJJ promotions this year, including two brown belts, two purple belts and six blue belts.
Rebel Girls BJJ hosted two historic women-only seminars at FVGC. One was in April while the other was in November.
We also had some very educational affiliation seminars, including a workshop with LCCT head Thiago Veiga and a large seminar with both Luiz Claudio and Thiago that included UFC fighter special guests from the Sik-jitsu team.
In June Team FVGC was pumped to begin their partnership with Sweat Angels this year, an organization that assists gyms in donating to wonderful charitable causes through Facebook check-in campaigns.
We also said “Thank You” to all of our extremely talented and dedicated instructors at our end-of-year potluck and Instructor Appreciation Week.
And lastly, as always, we had some fun and productive training throughout the year. Thank you so much to all of our instructors and members for their loyalty, dedication, hard work and heart over the last year. You truly make FVGC a family and a great place to be.
