We are quickly approaching the IBJJF Masters World Championships being held in Las Vegas, NV August 24-27, 2017. Team FVGC has six competitors working hard to travel out there and bring some hardware back to Wisconsin: James Peterson (black belt), Bob Howden (purple belt), Matt Brown (purple belt), Stephanie Ozment (purple belt), Richard Wittmann (blue belt), and Curt Stratton (blue belt). While they are busy getting prepared, we would like to take a moment to thank our amazing team sponsors and encourage you to support them like they are supporting our fighters!

Saturday, May 6th FVGC will be CLOSED for all regular classes. We will be going to the Wisconsin Dells to watch the Wisconsin Wrestling Federation Freestyle & Greco State tournament. We are going to show support for a number of FVGC family members that are competing, including the Engeldal, Williams, Wittmann, Hammen, and Mills kids.
Please RSVP to the FB event if you are wanting to travel with the team (i.e. carpool with other FVGCers). FVGC FAMILY MEMBERS ONLY! If you are going but will be traveling alone with your family, please just check “Interested” so we don’t reserve you a seat. If you are willing and able to drive/provide a vehicle, please let us know in the discussion and include how many seats you have available. We will be meeting and leaving from the gym (exact time TBD).
More information on the tournament is below.
It has been suggested to us that you bring cash for entry and parking as well as chairs/cushions to sit on as it will be a long day on bleachers and the floor. Wear your FVGC or Team Sarah gear!
JUNE 12-JULY 26
Team FVGC has created a 6-Week summer program for kids 8-13 years old to learn the basics of boxing and Muay Thai kickboxing, to get some great exercise, and to have fun! No prior kickboxing or boxing training is required.
Classes will be held every Monday and Wednesday afternoon from 4-5pm starting on Monday, June 12th and ending Wednesday, July 26th. (We will be taking a break the week of July 3rd).
This will be an age-appropriate, light-contact class under professional, adult supervision and instruction. Students will be focusing on proper footwork, basic punching and kicking technique, putting together combinations, and some basic defense. There will be no peer-to-peer contact until students can demonstrate basic technique, control, and discipline.
Tuition for the 6-weeks is $150 and INCLUDES BOXING GLOVES AND SHIN-GUARDS. Students will need to provide their own boil-and-bite style mouthguard (approximately $15, available at Dicks, Scheels, Play It Again Sports, etc.). Registration and payment through the Eventbrite page is REQUIRED for participation. This will allow us to appropriately plan curriculum, staffing, and have each child’s equipment ready for them on their first day.
REGISTRATION ENDS SATURDAY, MAY 20th
Attention FVGC Ladies:
Women’s Class will be cancelled tomorrow, Monday February 20th due to instructor travel and illnesses. Thank you in advance for your understanding! Please contact us with any questions.
Due to inclement weather and the anticipation of dangerous road conditions as temperatures begin to drop, FVGC will be cancelling ALL REGULAR CLASSES tonight, Tuesday, January 10th with regular classes resuming tomorrow.
We apologize for the inconvenience, but we really like you all and don’t want to see anyone dying in a ditch trying to get to or from training. We will be opening up Wednesday’s Advanced BJJ class to all belt levels and encourage our boxing friends to come to Kickboxing Fundamentals at 5:15pm Wednesday night!
The City of Appleton has declared a Snow Emergency for tomorrow, Saturday, Dec. 17th. Not only are roads expected to be dangerous, but parking will be prohibited on the street. Therefore, we are going to CLOSE FOR ALL REGULAR CLASSES.

As we head toward Thanksgiving, please be aware that FVGC will have a modified schedule due to the holiday!
We will be CLOSED on Thursday, November 24, Friday, November 25th, and Saturday, November 26th for ALL REGULAR CLASSES.
We will be having OPEN MAT on Saturday, November 26th from 11am-12:30pm for all FVGC members that would like to train. This is open to BJJ, kickboxing and fitness members. We will be setting the clock for the BJJ people to roll, but there will be room for kickboxing and fitness people to hit the bags, hold mitts, and work out.
Have a wonderful and safe holiday! And remember…
